monday, january 6 (03) [link]jane: i'm back in california! and i am soooooo glad to be here. when i left Japan, the apartment was freezing, cold icy little pellets of snow were pelting the windows, and nearly everyone i knew was sick with a horrible flu that lasted days and days and days. not surprisingly, i got it too, and spent ten hours of pure misery on the airplane ride home.
and then - i arrive in San Francisco at 8 in the morning, step outside and take a deep, fog-laden breath of cool wet air and it's so nice and warm, and as we drive home the sun comes out and the water is brilliantly shiny blue, the sky is clear and shimmering, the green hills are so lush and vivid, and i wonder, why the hell did i leave in the first place?
unfortunately i am still sick but i am sure the healthful air and fresh fruits of California will cure me in no time.
