chrisg:  the cable dilemma is that nothing you want to see comes on until you go and rent it. point in case - i rented 'jacob's ladder' on sunday night with a group of people. i really hated the movie the first time i saw it, but now i think it's not so bad. i mean, the allegory is so overt as to be obnoxious, but otherwise it's an interesting flic. what made the movie even more interesting was to sing "whoo-hoo, witchay woman" everytime that the character 'jezebel' came on screen.

ah, but my point! yes, the point is that i had the tv on last night (after watching a very special episode of buffy) and what should be on the sci-fi channel but jacob's fucking ladder. and it's not like i even turned it on in the middle of the movie - it had just started! that's the other cable paradox: whenever you see a movie on cable that you want to see, the first hour has already played. but whenever there's a movie that you've already seen or hate or whatnot, you always turn it on at the beginning.

and all i have to say is, if AT&T broadband is so brilliant as to know exactly which movies i've watched and when i'm going to turn them on, then why aren't they brilliant enough to know that i want e! all day long, and m2, and cartoon network, and the style channel? or maybe they do, and this is just another element of their torture?

grrr...

chrisw:  Ok, i've added 'subscribe' and 'unsubscribe' buttons to the mail list... Wish i had a wireless palm so i could blog from all over the world. Then maybe I could be a "real" geek like I've read about in the Chron or SF Weekly. Now sometimes people call me a geek, or (ugh) "tech-savvy" but can't they see that giants walk the earth? I can only aspire and fail...

chrisw:  i want to blog really quickly and I have to relay some selections of a gamer's not-so-inner monologue that Adam overheard [from kempa]

"I HATE it when I lose crusaders."
"Don't I have a FUCKIN' barracks?"
"I'm goin' for your MAIN house."
"Have a nice day! You can always make more crusaders."
"I'm tearing your BITCH ASS up."
"Oh! If you have no PEASANTS, you have no HOUSES!"

chrisg:  Dear diary,
Cats won't stop scratching me. I wake up every night to Boots and Kibbles kneading my flesh with their claws. People at work are starting to suspect addiction. And of course, my lack of sleep leads to an overall sketchy demeanor, which only feeds these rumors. I've started to fight back, putting little pebbles in their food bowls instead of Cat Chow and vodka in their water bowls. Am I crazy?
